A Studio Art Series Workshops

As we reflect on the past decade of fostering creativity within our community, we are thrilled to embark on a year-long celebration of workshops led by professional Saskatchewan artists who have contributed immensely to our artistic landscape.

This two day workshop is on July 12th from 6pm to 9pm, July 13th from 10:00am – 4:00pm. If this class is full, you may phone us at 306 653 1900 to add your name to a wait list. 

Join Cam Forrester and learn to break free from creating copies of your reference photos and start creating pieces with your own signature style.

This workshop will give you the tools to create paintings that attract viewers attention through design, composition, value, and colour.

This class will be taught using oil paint. The information is transferable through all mediums, but the technique will be using oil.

Bring a bag lunch.

Supplies:   Bring a sketchbook & pencils

Supports:8×10 or 9×12 canvas or panels

Flat Brushes 1”, ½”, ¼”, and a rigger/liner brush

Cam uses the following pigments in Oil: Cad Yellow Light, Cad Yellow Deep, Cad Red Light, Alizarin Crimson, Ultramarine Blue, Cobalt Teal, & Titanium White Oil

This is a weekend workshop from May 10th to 12th.  Friday May 10th from 6:30pm to 9:30pm, Saturday 9:30am to 4:30pm, and Sunday 10am to 1:30pm. If this class is full, you may phone us at 306 653 1900 to add your name to a wait list. Lunch is included. This event will take place at the Queen’s House Retreat Center.

In this workshop you will learn the lost principles of brilliant, luminous, color effects followed by the greatest painters for 5 centuries, from Van Eyck to Van Gogh.  Almost everything you have been taught about how to put your paintings together is surprisingly different from how these master artists constructed their work.  Moreover, with today’s superior paints and mediums, including the newer acrylics, we are able to create effects that would be the envy of all those famous artists.

This workshop is designed for artists with some painting experience in oils, acrylics, or even watercolors.  Acrylic paints are relatively new and how to use them effectively is still a challenge for many artists.  Techniques that are successful when using oil paints or watercolors do not often yield good results when applied to acrylic paints.  This is because the physical and chemical properties of the synthetic acrylic paints are unique.

Learn everything you need to know to master acrylic painting:  Do you have questions about the differences between oils and acrylics; which mediums to use; what quality or brand of paints are best; how to create great texture effects using gel mediums; which brushes are best for acrylics?,…

In this workshop the focus will be on learning the specific properties of acrylics and how you can use them to achieve fantastic results.  Emphasis will be on mastering the materials and skills to help you be a better painter.  You will learn to master the medium and effectively apply glazes, veils, and impasto layers of paint.  Painting demos will also be featured.

Join Jacqueline Miller in this Acrylic Workshop, where a Still Life Floral serves as your muse.  Dive into Blind Contour Drawing, embracing intuition for expressive creations. Experiment with Yupo on a Cradled Board, harnessing heavy body paint’s texture and hues.  Unleash your creativity in a condensed journey, exploring techniques, and infusing passion into every stroke.

This one-day workshop is designed to explore your unique visual language, enhance your painting process, and refine your self-evaluation skills by employing design elements and principles. The morning will involve playful exercises, serving as tools for the afternoon when we delve into the abstraction of a muse. Cindy will also share insights into how these elements are utilized in her artistic process. While the focus is not on a finished product, you might find your masterpiece emerging!

Lunch Break – Bring a bagged lunch and join Cindy for informal discussions about artmaking and being creatives. A supply list will be provided closer to the workshop date.
