    In this fun introduction to resin class we will cover the basics in supplies and safety, a thorough how to on measuring, mixing and adding objects to resin. We will be adding a topcoat to a small art tile as well as complete your own coaster. Art tiles and coasters will be available for pick up the Monday following this sampler class.   • Drawing: Learning to See (Ages 9-16) Class $240.00

    Geared towards middle school students (age 9-16ish). The vocabulary of drawing is as unique as you are. With black and white and colour media you can; tell a story, explore ideas and symbols, develop your natural spatial awareness, invent texture, play with light and shadow, and draw with a specific focus to become suspended in the seeing/drawing flow.

    Diverse media creates exciting opportunities for a variety of mark making; woodless pencils, graphite sticks, conté, chalk and oil pastel, pen and ink, acrylic pens, scraffito (sgraffito in Italian), and pochoir (stencilling) for example. Drawing to know is so natural and wonderful, so engaging to discover and develop hidden potential.

    Acrylic paint pouring is a fun, relaxing way to create your own unique piece of art. Through interactive demonstration, we will address frequently asked questions regarding mixture viscosity, additives, cells, basic color theory as well as tips and tricks to improve your pour results. You will create two 6×6 tiles using Amsterdam, Demco and Golden products. This will be an exciting class, but we could get messy-wear your painting clothes.

  • Intro to Drawing with Jean Dudley $300.00

    Learning to draw is all about learning to see while having fun.  This introductory course will focus on increasing your observational skills and interpreting those observations from your personal perspective.  Still life arrangements will be used as particular drawing skills are practiced and a range of mark making techniques are developed. Topics covered in this class include: line drawing, contour, gesture, value, form, negative space and perspective.  Other topics will be included as individual interest and time permits.

  • Landscape Painting, A Montgomery $187.50

    In the process of learning about landscape elements, students will also explore the concept of working en plein air, review colour theory and practice elements of composition including cropping, creating a focal point and working with natural light. Students may choose to work in other mediums. Each class will feature critique, discussion and demonstration.

  • Open Studio Monday D.Lindner $300.00

    This class runs from September 19th to November 14th (8 classes, no class October 10th), Monday evenings from  7:00pm – 9:30pm (8 classes). If this class is full, you may phone us at 306 653 1900 to add your name to a wait list.

    This class is designed for people with some painting experience. There will be a still-life set up for those who are interested, but class members may also work from their own imagination, or their own photographs. There will be discussions about colour theory and all the principles of art and design as the class progresses. Degen offers encouragement and practical information, and makes suggestions about the paintings being created.

    Degen Lindner is a practicing artist and teacher. Her works range from drawing and painting the figure to landscapes and abstracts. She has had her work commissioned and has participated in numerous individual and group shows. Degen has a Masters of Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Education. She taught through the Continuing and Distance Education Program at the University of Saskatchewan, has been an instructor for the Mendel Art Gallery in Saskatoon, and has taught for the Community Arts Program and the Emma Lake Workshops for many years. Degen has also had a lengthy association with the Emma Lake Artists’ Workshops.

    Introductory course: Students will become familiar with the materials and techniques of painting with watercolour. Use of the paint, brushes, papers and colour theory along with fundamentals of composition will be covered and subject matter that lends itself well to painting with the watercolour medium will be presented. Experienced painters are also welcome to join the class.
