C.Tuck-Tallon Golden Rule Workshop

$95.00

As we reflect on the past decade of fostering creativity within our community, we are thrilled to embark on a year-long celebration of workshops led by professional Saskatchewan artists who have contributed immensely to our artistic landscape.

This one day workshop is on June 8th, Saturday from 10:00am – 4:00pm. If this class is full, you may phone us at 306 653 1900 to add your name to a wait list.

How you lay out your composition can elevate your work from appealing to
mesmerizing. Incorporating the Golden Rule into your work will give you a tool used by the great masters.

Starting with the rule of thirds, moving to dynamic symmetry, and then expanding to the Golden Rule, this workshop will give you the tools to incorporate these elements into your work. Whether you work in watercolour, acrylic, oil or even photography, these concepts will apply. The Golden Rule transcends all cultures and is proven to be universally appealing. It is the language of nature and will create a more natural placement for your elements. Cheryl will lead you in mapping out your composition, creating movement and balance. Even if you start with an inspiration photograph, you can improve the composition and make it truly your own.

Materials needed: Sketch pad, ruler, drawing pencils, eraser. Golden Rule callipers are helpful but not necessary. Bring lots of photos or sketches you wish to create into your own pieces.

Having been exposed to floral design from a young age, Cheryl developed an appreciation for design, and this later translated into her art on canvas. Her first media was live flowers where she learned colour, texture, and line. She then moved to oils, acrylics and watercolour and her subject matter includes landscape, abstracted landscape, florals and abstract inspired from nature. Vivid colours combined with interwoven patterns are used to express a unique perspective of her subject matter. With her intricate detail of flora or fauna she imbues the pulse of the living being. She has a strong sense of light, and her paintings reflect this.

While primarily a self-taught artist, she attended the University of Saskatchewan and holds a Certificate of Art and Design. She instructs classes on composition and perspective at the U of S Community Arts Program and is invited by several artist guilds to conduct workshops. Cheryl owned a fine art gallery in Saskatchewan Lakeland for many years.

Her work is available at Black Spruce Gallery in Prince Albert National Park and Fallen Leaf Gallery in Canmore Alberta.
