Perfect for both beginners and seasoned artists, this workshop will guide you through various gel printing techniques using stencils, masks, and hand-carved stamps. You’ll experiment with colours, textures, and layering techniques, embracing the unexpected outcomes that make each print unique. Gel plate printmaking is a fantastic way to dip your toes into the art of printmaking because the process is straightforward and requires minimal supplies: a gel plate, some paint, and paper. This workshop will cover the basics as well as introducing additional techniques for those interested in expanding their skills. By the end of the session, you’ll take home your choice of either a set of gift tags, bookmarks, or artist trading cards—each a miniature masterpiece. Your supply:
- Gel printing plate 5 x7 is great but any size will work and any brand
- Brayer (roller for applying paint)
- Acrylic paints Five Colours (Choose any four colours you like together plus a light neutral colour. The Amsterdam paints work well because they come in a variety of hues, there is no time for mixing when working with gel plates) For example: sky blue light or brilliant blue (as your blue), Venetian rose or Light Rose or quin rose light (as your red) Nickel Titan Yellow or similar (as your yellow), ultramarine violet light or another purple (as an extra 4th colour), and naples yellow green(as your light neutral)
- Apron (optional)

Hues Art Supply reserves the right to cancel a class due to low enrolment. A full refund will be returned to you in that case.
As per Hues Art Supply cancellation guidelines- if you cancel your registration up to 30 days prior to the beginning of the class, a full refund will be issued to you. 14 days prior to the beginning of the class, should you wish to cancel your registration – we will issue a full in-store credit that you may use for future classes or art materials. 5 days prior to the class, should you decide to cancel, we will issue an in-store credit for 50% of the cost of the class. After the five day deadline, no further refunds will be issued unless the class has been canceled by Hues Art Supply.
Keitha McClocklin is a contemporary artist working in a range of disciplines including painting, printmaking, and drawing – often weaving techniques from one discipline to another. Her abstract realism style is characterized by the use of layers, colour, and mixed media, including pastel, ink, acrylic, cold wax, and oil. She fluidly moves between figurative, landscape, and abstraction. Keitha creates from her studio nestled in the Riversdale neighbourhood of Saskatoon. Her works are held in public and private collections across the U.S., France, Canada, Indonesia, and the United Kingdom, and have been featured in numerous print and online media.

Now the best of two worlds are bound together in one sketch book. These spiral-bound books contain two of the most popular Strathmore papers: 400 Series watercolor and 400 Series sketch. They are great for on location studies. Each book contains 15 sheets of 140 lb. cold press watercolor interleaved with 15 sheets of 60 lb. sketch paper. Use the sketch paper for preliminary drawings and notes to prepare for the watercolor paintings.
