In this course, students will introduced to a range of styles and experimental approaches to landscape painting using acrylics, acrylic medium, ink and mixed media. We will explore a variety of acrylic methods with a focus on landscape, organic forms from nature and related abstracted experimental compositions. We will examine methods for creating studies of skies, clouds, and various depictions of the land, trees, and skies. Diverse methods of experimenting with acrylic, mixed media along with perspective and colour theory will be explored. Exemplars of well-known Canadian and International landscape painters will be discussed.

Ann Donald has taught art in Saskatoon for over 20 years. She has been teaching art in galleries, museums, high schools, elementary schools and universities. Ann holds degrees related to creating and teaching art from Mount Alison University, Concordia University, University of Western, York University, and an art Academy in Enschede, Holland. Ann has recently retired from teaching art and graphic design at Holy Cross High School. Ann has exhibited artwork in numerous galleries in Saskatoon, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, and Holland.

This heavy-weight mixed media paper is available in warm tan, cool gray and steel blue and is toned specifically for use with light and dark media. It also combines the characteristics of a watercolor paper and the finish of a drawing sheet, creating a paper that performs for all wet and dry media. It’s the perfect hybrid of two of our most loved papers: 400 Series Toned Sketch and 400 Series Mixed Media. Flip-over covers feature sheets that stay in the pad yet tear out cleanly.
