Intro to Encaustic Painting Blanche Johnston July 10-11

As a recipient of our artist residency Blanche Johnson leads this two day encaustic workshop for artists with a foundation in composition and colour theory. Participants will learn encaustic painting techniques including safe studio practices tool use and the process of fusing wax layers.

The workshop explores building luminous surfaces through layering and glazing with encaustic medium and pigment along with graphite watercolour PanPastel and oil sticks. Blanche will also demonstrate how to prepare your own encaustic medium and set up a safe functional workspace.
