Our Large Earth Palette is one that artists of old would recognize. Until the advent of synthetic pigments, artists created their own paints from earth pigments such as yellow ochres, red and green earths, mineral blues, bone and lamp blacks. Use the colours featured here to compose beautiful tonal works, or work bi-chromatically with combinations of these colours to create interesting studies with mood and character. Supplement this palette with a combination of primary colours such as Hansa Yellow, Pyrrole Red, and Ultramarine Blue for a palette that can paint the rainbow.
Stoneground’s Earth Palette contains fourteen half pans of our handmade watercolour paint in a hinged metal tin. Measuring approximately 2 1/2” x 4”, this compact size is perfect for travel and painting en plein air.

Zinc White is considered to be a slightly warmer white than Titanium White, and works well with the ivory tone of most watercolour papers. Zinc’s semi-transparent nature makes it great for tinting, and it is able to create beautiful glazes when mixed with other transparent watercolours.

This natural white paper is ideally suited for printmaking processes that require a heavier paper such as lithography, intaglio, and screen print. Also suitable for relief printing. This heavy-weight mixed media paper is available in warm tan, cool gray and steel blue and is toned specifically for use with light and dark media. It also combines the characteristics of a watercolor paper and the finish of a drawing sheet, creating a paper that performs for all wet and dry media. It’s the perfect hybrid of two of our most loved papers: 400 Series Toned Sketch and 400 Series Mixed Media. Flip-over covers feature sheets that stay in the pad yet tear out cleanly.
