A beautiful, concentrated pigment, Brown Ochre is a natural iron oxide that produces a bright, warm yellow-brown with good tinting strength. One of our favourites for landscape painting, Brown Ochre has proven useful across a variety of subject matter from botanicals to wildlife.
Artist Notes: This brown has a lovely warm undertone and is incredibly versatile across a range of applications. The warm yellow undertone adds depth and complexity to dried foliage such as leaves and it is useful for controlling the temperature of other colours.
Paint Maker’s Notes: Ochres are natural yellow earth pigments which have been used by humans since pre-history and are still among the most popular pigments available to artists.
