This class is all about exploring how to use pastels, including various techniques & tools. No drawing or painting experience needed – this will be a fun class for anyone who either already uses pastels, or someone who has never tried them. You will learn about the differences between surfaces such as suede board, sanded board and various types of sanded paper. For this class you will be using pan pastels along with soft pastels and pastel pencils on a sanded paper. Samples of various surfaces will be available to try out as time permits.

Hues Art Supply reserves the right to cancel a class due to low enrolment. A full refund will be returned to you in that case.
As per Hues Art Supply cancellation guidelines- if you cancel your registration up to 30 days prior to the beginning of the class, a full refund will be issued to you. 14 days prior to the beginning of the class, should you wish to cancel your registration – we will issue a full in-store credit that you may use for future classes or art materials. 5 days prior to the class, should you decide to cancel, we will issue an in-store credit for 50% of the cost of the class. After the five day deadline, no further refunds will be issued unless the class has been canceled by Hues Art Supply.

Judy (Epp) Kasdorf grew up on a farm west of Langham, SK. Judy had a love of art from an early age and pencil sketches evolved into trying oils for the first time as a young adult. Judy is generally self taught and was fortunate to receive mentorship from the late Pat Grove using various mediums, eventually settling on pastels as her medium of choice. Judy paints in a mainly realistic style, favouring wildlife subjects as well as landscapes and florals.

Judy has a real passion for painting wildlife and nature which has resulted in numerous winning entries as well as Best in Shows at the Reflections of Nature Art show (Saskatoon), as well as Saskatoon Exhibition’s Art Showcase. In 2017 Judy was chosen as the Feature Artist for the Reflections of Nature Art Show sponsored by the Saskatchewan Wildlife Art Association (SWAA). Judy’s work is represented by Dandelion Art Framing & Gallery, 2207 – 1^st Avenue N, Saskatoon, SK

Judy accepts commissions and has painted many pet portraits. Whatever the subject, each painting is a new adventure!
