Creating a portrait that captures the essence of a person requires a specific set of skills that include keen observation, understanding of facial anatomy and openness to life energy. These skills can be learned and practiced, improving drawn and painted portraits, while preserving personal style. Work in your choice of medium from photos and live models.

As per Hues Art Supply cancellation guidelines- if you cancel your registration up to 30 days prior to the beginning of the class, a full refund will be issued to you. 14 days prior to the beginning of the class, should you wish to cancel your registration – we will issue a full in-store credit that you may use for future classes or art materials. 5 days prior to the class, should you decide to cancel, we will issue an in-store credit for 50% of the cost of the class. Supplies:

For materials, I would request that everyone have at newsprint (at least 24 x 30ish), graphite pencils (HB, 2B, 6B), willow/vine charcoal, kneaded eraser and clips or masking tape for holding the paper on the board. And then a few sheets of better drawing paper.
I would encourage people to bring whatever other materials they want to use (pastels, paint), depending on their level of experience and comfort.
